A Spring Stay at The Whaler’s Inn Mystic

Spring is here and with that the coastlines are calling! Recently, we went to Mystic on our spring break and stayed at The Whaler’s Inn. This is my favorite place to stay when visiting the historic downtown and I shared it last fall here on Kristy & New England.

This time around, I brought the whole family to stay. We enjoyed several places like the Mystic Seaport, the downtown shops and restaurants, and we made a short drive over to our favorite beaches in Watch Hill, RI. Today, I’d like to show you the suite we stayed in and the amenities at The Whaler’s Inn. Also, I have a SPECIAL DISCOUNT for you to use when you book a stay with The Whaler’s Inn now thru December 31, 2021.

The Lobby

The lobby interiors are so pleasing at The Whaler’s Inn. Coastal touches are found throughout this common area with nods to Mystic in every detail. On cooler days and in the fall and winter, the fireplace will greet you as you walk through the front entrance. It’s cozy yet polished and I love spending time in here.

There is a gift shop on the other side of the lobby that offers several great souvenirs. We love their coffee mugs and travel mugs and have quite a few in our cupboard at home.

For your safety, the inn has strict safety and sanitizing protocols in place to ensure your comfort during your stay. They only allow a limited number of guests in the lobby at a time and there are markers on the floor for social distancing. Hand sanitizing stations are throughout the property and at every entrance. You can read their COVID-19 procedures HERE.

The Mallory Suite

This visit, we stayed in the Mallory Suite which is perfect for small families. Our last visit we stayed in the grand Morgan Suite which is just charming with high ceilings and a fireplace. I’d recommend that room if you are taking a couples getaway. The Mallory Suite was just our speed for traveling with our boys.

The Mallory Suite has two separate bedrooms and a Jack and Jill bathroom with double sinks and a separate chamber for the commode and shower/tub combo. The first bedroom is very spacious with a Queen sized bed, a sitting area, a desk, a console with a mini fridge and Keurig coffee maker, and a flat screen TV.

The second bedroom in the Mallory Suite is just perfect for kids with a twin over full size bunk bed. Also, it has its own flat screen TV and a table and chairs for the little ones. It’s nice to have two bedrooms when traveling as a family.

Every time we stay here, the rooms are just immaculate and so clean. We love the privacy of this suite and it is the perfect set-up for a family of four.

Breakfast is Included

A Continental Breakfast is included each morning of your stay at The Whaler’s Inn restaurant, The Shipwright’s Daughter. The breakfast includes a homemade biscuit, jam, Greek yogurt, an egg, and fresh in season fruit. Also, coffee or juice is included. You can order off the regular breakfast menu if you’d like something more in the morning.

One morning I had the Continental Breakfast and one morning I ordered off the menu. The breakfast that comes with your stay is actually really filling!! We all loved the homemade biscuits. When we ordered off the menu, our boys loved the Blueberry Johnny Cakes. If you do order off the breakfast menu, get the home fries too—those were a hit with our family.

Dining at Shipwright’s Daughter

The inn has a wonderful on site restaurant that just opened last year. I tried it out last fall and fell in love with the creative menu! The menu changes often and has farm to table style offerings. All ingredients are sourced fresh and in season. They have some staple items that have stayed on the menu since my last visit, but almost everything on the menu this time was new.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is just as charming as the inn itself. Nautical vibes and great music play all night long. They do offer outdoor dining when the weather is warmer. The bar is partitioned with Plexiglass and is so well designed. I love the interiors just as much as the food!

We love staying with The Whaler’s Inn when we visit Mystic. It has a great location in the heart of the historic downtown close to the best restaurants, shopping, and marinas. The Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium, and Olde Mystic Village are just a minutes from the inn by car. Everything is so close and you can make some great day trips to the surrounding areas too in under 25 minutes.

I’ll be back soon with a full Mystic Travel Guide. We can’t rave about The Whaler’s Inn more! We all just love it! It’s great for families and couples alike.

Thank you to The Whaler’s Inn for an amazing stay! We only share the hotels and resorts that we love and that get our full approval here on Kristy & New England.

Until next time,

Kristy
