September in New England is here and I am craving all things autumn now. The weather has been cool and crisp in the mornings and I am eager to start planning our fall adventures. Apple orchards, pumpkin farms, and country drives are calling my name. I can’t wait to see where fall will take us this season. Fall foliage maps are tracking the colors and we all are anticipating another vibrant show.

Here’s what is on my radar for this month…

T R A V E L

  • Weekends in Southern Vermont— Nothing is planned, which in all honestly, is refreshing! We had a lot of planned trips in August and as great as it was to experience some new places, I want to slow down a bit this month. Once school and sports begin our schedules get hectic, so it will nice just to hop in the Jeep and drive up to Vermont on the weekends. It is a short drive from where we live in Connecticut and makes the perfect day trip or overnight away. Manchester, Dorset, and Grafton are favorites that we will visit once again—but it will be fun to explore some “new to us” areas this year too. Last year, we discovered an apple orchard in Dorset that we love (thanks to Briana from The Yellow Note) and want to make a visit there a yearly tradition for our family.

  • Day Trips in Connecticut— Since our relocation to Connecticut a couple of years ago, there still is so much of the state we want to see. Fall here is idyllic with the stone walls flanking winding roads lined with hills and trees. We’ve talked about seeing more of the Litchfield Hills, Mystic Country, and the Quiet Corner. There’s a few farms, cider mills, and scenic drives I’ve mapped out.

  • Boston— We have family flying in and we will spend a day up in Boston at the end of the month. I’ve only been a couple of times and never in the fall, so I am excited to see the city streets decked out in pumpkins and festive touches.

  • Newport, RI— We end up in Newport a lot it seems like, but we’ve never been in the fall. While our family is visiting we are going to take them for a visit.

  • I have some great things in the works for the season and I am trying to be really selective with what I choose to feature on this blog and my Instagram. The ones I will be sharing this month, check all the boxes for what I want for our New England lifestyle. I can’t wait to share what I’ve been collaborating on for our site and media! It’s so fun to have this creative outlet and to be able to learn about these wonderful brands.

I am going to keep this edition of Notes short and sweet and let the month unfold. Here’s to the “unofficial” start of fall!

Until next time,
